What is it called when the wrong denimination is stamped on a planchet. Example. A cent planchets gets a quarter obverse and reverse die stamped to it. What's the correct error name for that? Wrong Denomination Error?

I do not know if there is a name, I always see the description of "cent struck on dime error" or "cent struck on dime planchet"

Eisenhower dollar Struck on Philippine 1 Piso Brass Planchet
What-Is-It-Called-When... What-Is-It-Called-When...

quote:
WRONG METAL / WRONG PLANCHET ERRORS

Off metals and wrong planchet errors occur when a blank from one denomination is accidentally fed into a press for another denomination. Examples are a nickel struck on a cent planchet and a cent struck on a dime planchet. The coin struck on an incorrect blank will weigh exactly what the denomination of that blank would have been. An even more dramatic wrong planchet error is a coin struck on a previously struck coin of a different metal.

Sleak, are you thinking of a "mule"?

no, thinking of what GO just posted up there, thanks! But now that you bring up the word mule, that's when they get stamped with the same design on both sides, right?

Sleak, a mule is when you have the obverse of one coin and the reverse of another, i.e., a Sac obverse with a Washington Qtr reverse.
