I just can't seem to make up my mind on this one... Of course, I have trouble figuring this out on a LOT of S mint SBAs. The frosted effect is more noticeable out of direct light, but my camera sucks in anything less than that.

I'm leaning towards type-1 proof myself but thought I's ask the experts. Oh, and is there any easy way to tell the difference between business strike and proof strike 79 and 80 S-mint SBAs? I have nearly two rolls of them that I can't seem to make up my mind on proof or spenders

1979-S Type 1 (filled S)

Business strike.
If it was a proof, you would be able to see the cameo devices contrasting against the deep mirrored fields. I'm not seeing that in the photos. However, I am seeing some very nice overall luster.

I cannot decide, given the photo.

How to the rims look and feel in hand? Compare the reeding on a business strike to a proof.

I think you are right, a 1979 proof should have decent cameo. I pulled the photos up on a different monitor and agree, business strike. My judgment based on the lack of frosting on the devices.

Filled S business strike. Go to a local shop and compare to the ones in the proof set of the same year the difference is night and day.
