Hey, I found all of these die cracks in 2 boxes out of 4 I picked up from the bank. Are these common or worth keeping? I'm not sure if I got 2 lucky boxes from someone that had turned them in or what. I'm thinking of keeping the best one from each year and making a set since all the cracks appear to be in the same place.

I found: 1x1971, 3x1992D (one is different), 1x1993D, 1x1994P, 3x1995P, 2x1996P, 2x1997P, 14x1998P (three are different), 1x1999P, 2x2000P, 2x2001P

These three extend up the neck up slightly passed the artist's signature:

This one is from the bottom of the neck up towards the top of 'W' in "WE", it does not go passed the date like the others do:

Looks like a weak part of the dies design.

Could we get full pics of both sides of one of the coins?

Yeah, I'm seeing enough evidence in one place to generalize about the whole series from this one post.

Yup, thought this much too, mostly with the P mints. This is why I'm going to make a set of the highest quality ones I find for each year; I think that would be pretty interesting. I would like to know if it would be worth keeping all of them though, I guess that depends how many I find in the next boxes I pick up and or if other members have found a lot of these.

Unfortunately, none of them are as cool as this one that shows a crack across the obverse end to end: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1997-P-50c-...em3aa69708f9

Yeah, pretty small crack. I think it is not enough to bring a premium. Maybe keep one though as an example.

More than one one of the same is proof of a die error.
