Curious what this depth type ring is near the denticles.
Do these lines make any difference?
This is an UNC coin & am curious if these make any diff with the value.

your coin appears to be a pl/sp strike. the lines are from the die, sadly that business on the queens face and fields makes this an impaired example.

A PL coin that was cleaned with acetone... you get that 'gasoline-on-water' effect when acetone photochemically reacts with fresh copper.

I picked up a binder with numerous unc. pennies last year & never had it out of the 2x2...If I were to take it out of the 2x2, what would be a good way to see if that comes off the face?

I think that gasoline effect is from the 2x2 plastic as a few others have the same...

Actually, it may be on the coin as I tried shifting it inside the 2x2 & the gasoline effect is still in the same place....does that change the value?

I have never heard or read of this. Maybe I'm missing something?

hmmmm, found this:

http://www.stonybrook.edu/vescalab/...search7.html

"Copper reacts photochemically with acetone and water vapor to form acetic acid. The acetic acid then reacts with copper to form copper acetate. Over a period of 18 hours the copper foil that was immersed in acetone and exposed to ambient light developed blue crystal deposits"
