JFK Half Dollar Roll Hunters: Silver, Proofs And Other Finds

1 1964, 1 40%er, another electric engraver Jims coins, 2 holed, and a few NIFC.

stopped by the bank to order new checks and while there asked the teller for any halves, she said, "I only have two dollars in halves but one is all dirty and corroded looking, I don't suppose you want that one" when it hit the counter I heard silver even though I couldn't see the date. I took it. It was a very dingy looking 67-P, the dirtiest one was the best one.

Well, everyone else was doing it.....

I kept the stamped and holed ones I have to remove them from circulation. Imagine getting a coin you need somehow other than box searching only to find it had a hole or some stamp on it. For a circulating coin collector this is worse than not having that coin at all. I know from still lacking a 2009 D cent, because all the ones I find of that design I need are in bad shape. This allows the numbe of cons out there to be less by a tiny tiny bit and gives a chance at me or someone else finding something else special.

Also just another marker as it were. Like keeping all the bicentennials for now it allows me to know that I have NOT seen every coin in a box before. If I keep all the ones with holes, then get a new one with a hole, well it is a new coin to me and makes me feel better after the rest of the box that there might be something else good hiding that I haven't seen yet.

Beats putting magic marker on the coins to say they have been searched.
Why they have holes, I have no idea, but the recent box had one that looked incomplete. You could see the marks where the hole was stated on one side and put at an angle. More like it was done with a nail rather than all the rest that look clean.

Also since a bank change that has the bank ordering 8 days before the order is sent to the bank I missed out on my box of quarters this week, so have box #9 of halves coming from another bank instead.

The coin should have a hollow sound as it is most likely a Magicians coin with a foreign coin inside.

Haha. Yes. Exactly. Il take the oldest ones I can for as cheap as I can. I'll look for barbers next.

Picked up my 4 boxes this morning. Nothing in the first 2, except for a lot of colored halves. There was a nice selection of blue, purple and orange halves. It almost looks like they were dyed like Easter eggs. A couple of them were pretty cool, but not my cup of tea so they all went back in the ocean. Hopefully the other 2 boxes will be better.

Box 3: Nothing
Box 4: A 1966 and a 1967 that would have both been missed by edge searchers. A 1983 no FG,and about 300 more Easter Eggs.
