Awesome, Arby, enders are great. Before you sell those rolls though would it be wise to weigh them? If one is heavy enough to suspect a dozen or 15 silvers you may want to keep it for yourself. Or use the weight as an additional selling point.

JDK350, I just weighed them and I and 4 of the rolls have an average weight of 227.5 grms, There could easily be 8-10 pieces of silver per roll, The other three only weigh 225.4. I will sleep on it. My curiosity is a bit over whelming to check and see what is inside the rolls.

i could never sell an unopened roll I don't think... too much fun to open them.
I hit a bank today where the 1 teller knows about silver, but not the 40%ers it seems. Got 1 from her, I think she kept a 90%er. So I have 1 silver before starting my boxes today. Hopefully I am able to pick up my 4 today.

I can't believe I did it, I put up that double ender on ebay, the one with the 64 on one end and the unknown Kennedy on the other. I opened those other rolls and ended up with 2-90%ers 2-64 and 14-40%ers, 3-65, 4-67, 6-68, and 1-69. Had another great week, hope you are all doing well. Keep up the hunt.   "LOVE THE HUNT!"  "LOVE THE HUNT!"

Berto, nope never thought about until I got a couple of double enders. We will see what happens. I have sold other items but its been several years since I have sold anything.

Good luck! Ask the buyer to tell you how many they find when they open the roll.

Will do, I have 3 bidders already. I hope there are 10 silver pieces in the roll for them. If it does well I might do it again. I checked on one person whom sold nothing but those types of rolls and over a couple of years he sold over $47,000. That is crazy awesome.

Do you guys think that by living in new mexico like arby you avoid alot of the major coin searching done by people. I doubt silver finds like those ever happen in michigan. Having searched 10 boxes now 1 90% and 1 40 % I can definitely see that dimes are better

Who What Where When Why Who has silver coins? Old people who were at least old enough to have disposable income prior to the year 1970 to hoard silver. Let's say 20 years old in 1970 would make you at 65 years old now. What I'm not sure. Where are all of the at least 65 year old people located? Florida, Arizona, and obviously New Mexico in Arby's neighborhood. When do silver halves get dumped? There is usually and upswing certain times of the year. Factor in 1 week to 2 months turnaround to get your own dumps back around here the fall to Christmas time seems to be the upswing so I guess the old people 65 and older who have to buy Christmas presents for all of their grandkids but are on a fixed income may need to cash in some of their hoarded halves to buy them. Why do silver coins get dumped? Above said elderly person dies and the family cleans house and could care less about any silver value so they haul them to the bank which I had a teller tell me happened to her a month ago (of course she kept it all for herself) or some burglar breaks into an over 65 house or a collectors house and dumps them into circulation so as not to get caught pawning them with a paper trail or some kid gets into their parents collection and spends them on candy (I have met a few people who are now my own age who said when they were the kids they did the spending) I think that I have been doing this too long if I can come up with something like the above to explain the random act of finding a 50 year old coin in change  |

Jack very interesting, I had the same type of thought, Old people and crooks, I always pray its the old people and I am not getting coins that someone ripped off. It surprises me how many old people don't realize coins 65-70 are silver, most I have talked with thought silver ended in 64. So I know of several whom have dumped those coins. I don't know if it was an old person but I was able to pick up a bag of halves at my bank from the machine, when the teller pulled it I could see a bunch of silver and they sold it to me. That was a lucky day. I hope old or young continue to dump coins and no one get ripped off.

I just went through an insane box of halves. Results- $500 Box1965-4 1966-2 1967-15 1968-10 1969-10 1974-Gold Plated Total 41 40% halves and 1 Gold Plated!   |
