So, my very first box hunt is in the books. While I didn't strike it rich, I did manage to find 7 NIFCs, a neat/dirty one, and two that are so beat up, I just wanted to share.

I'm still unsure as to what I need to be looking for (other than silver, of course), so any help is appreciated. The key coins I searched for were pre-1971, proofs, NIFCs, 1972-D no FG, 1974-D DDO, and 1982-P no FG. Is there anything else I should be looking for?

Pics of my finds to follow, and thanks everyone

@BostonCornhusker, I also look for 1977-D no FG, mid-aligned dies, grease errors, die breaks, and Cuds.

So, I've done a little more digging, and actually saw a CRH video with a coin mat specifying certain dates. So, with what I've found, and the advice I've received from members, here's what I'm going to be searching for, aside from silver, obviously.

1964 Enhanced hair
1964 Regular Proof
1966 SMS No FG
1966 SMS DD
1970-D
1971-D Silver Planchet Error
1971-D DDO
1972-P DDO
1972-D no FG
1973-D DDO
1974-D DDO
1977-D Silver Planchet Error
1977-D DDO
1977-D No FG
1982-P No FG
1987-P NIFC
1987-D NIFC
2002-present NIFC
Proofs (All)
- I understand there are varieties like flat/clear "S", SMS, etc.

And, from what I discovered, if I can find a 1964 SMS Kennedy, I'll have more than a few people jealous.

Happy hunting, everyone

I forgot to ask the group a question in my last post. Quick back story.

I called a branch of my pick-up bank today, and they told me they have $200 in halves. I went and picked up $80 (all CWRs), and quickly had a strong suspicion I would be getting zero coins from this lot. Rolls looked beat up, and when I began searching, realized most were facing the same way. I even found a roll of mostly bicentennials.

So, my question is this. At what point, if ever when CRH, do you stop searching CWRs if you suspect they're dumps from another collector? (BTW, my hunch was correct. No keepers)

Thanks

Boston, Never Stop searching CWR's, there are a ton of people who don't know about the 40% silver half dollars. Congrats on your silver score, you too gaman. By the way . Always search CWR's. Well I cracked 12 boxes this week all skunks. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Can't wait until next week is over and we hopefully get back to some sense of normalcy.
