Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. I haven't been searching halves too much since they're so hard to get. Most of the time, I usually get halves that have already been looked through, but my bank teller has called me a couple times to let me know a customer has dropped off rolls of halves. About a month ago, she called, and I got almost 3 rolls of silver. I ended up with 55 40% silver Kennedys and 1 90% 1964 Kennedy from one trip to the bank.   |

I don't even bother going to banks and asking for rolls of halves anymore. They all look at me weird and say they never have them. But the bank I do all my business at is friendly, and the teller has called me and left a voicemail to let me know when customers drop off halves. One of those rolls I got was even marked 65-66-67-68-69 in pencil, and it looked old. It's probably better to have the teller call me if there's been a dump than search tons of boxes. I'm worried that at some point I might get cut off from searching. I don't think the tellers are too happy to give thousands of dollars in halves to collectors to search every week. I've heard stories of other coin roll hunters being cut off. Does anyone know of an alternative? Is ordering boxes of halves acceptable? Is that what most coin roll hunters do?

I haven't been doing coin roll hunting for very long. I did a bit when I was a kid, but it's been over 20 years. So I figured I'd get back into doing it recently. Back at the end of December, I went into my local bank and asked if they had any halves, and the teller only had one roll. So I bought it. It was my first attempt. The roll turned out to contain quite a bit of silver... 7 40% Kennedys, a Walker, a Benji, and a 62.5% German Deutsche Mark.   |

Nice! And to think as little as 15 years ago many were tossing the 40%'ers back with the rest of the dumps!
