Skunked on a box (NF String). Found one NIFC ('03D) and a '95 with all of the nickel cladding stripped from the coin. The features of the coin are 'washed away' as if dipped in acid.

I just joined a bank that has free coin counting, and made my first dump ($1200 of coins, mostly halves.) They had to change the half dollar bag every $100... so it's not as great a time saver as I originally thought. Still, it saves time for smaller coins, i.e. random pocket change accumulation, or copper hunting.

Just realized I never posted my results for last weeks 2 boxes. I got literally nothing except a half dollar sized coin from Panama.

Wow, Todd. 10 box skunk. That can't be fun, although I would like to thank you for taking some boxes that were likely intended for me!

How do you go about dumping 10 boxes?!

Very politely and respectfully and with a box of donuts from time to time.

I have an account with a large bank here in town that has a commercial branch downtown - and not too far from where I live - that is set up to take this kind of coinage. They deal with restaurants, vending machine companies, etc. I walk in, ask for a cart, wheel the cart out to my car and load 10 - 12 bags and roll em in. They run 'em and cash it out for me. I have developed a pretty good relationship with the guy who runs them for me. I've asked him if there is anything I can do to make it easier on him and his reply the first time I asked was "No, you do it just right. Bags are good. One guys brings em in in the half dollar box and they are hard to deal with. Plus your always nice to me."

Honey Vs. Vinegar. Works almost every time.

Yeah, reminds of a a quote from Al Capone: "you can get more with a kind word and a gun than just a kind word alone" lol

Went to Capital One today to dump the "unwanted" halves. Of course the machine spits out a ticket that you take to the teller. Well, there was one half that the machine just wouldn't take. Rejected twice. Anyway, the teller goes to give me cash and I ask if he has any other halves in his drawer. He says "yeah 3 I have had for a long time." I ask if I can see them and as he pulls them out I hear the clinging of silver. 1-1967! Cha-ching!
