I wasn't meaning to be hostile. I was just showing the point of view of a collector, not a miner. I'm seeing here that my grandson will probably never finish this set. Enough said. For now. By the way, who said I wasn't finding silver? I won't be selling it for melt though.

Quote: Man, Russ, I don't know how you do it. I mean, I don't have a ton of money at these new banks (had a ton of money at Commerce before they decided that 2 boxes a week was excessive....) but I have the HHI to eventually move serious money over and they just don't give a darn. Either you are a millionaire or you bank at the one reasonable bank in the world. I am not a millionaire (not yet!) but my main bank is BofA. I keep a decent amount there and they have never given me crap about ordering boxes. Matter of fact, the branch by me is so busy they get 2 deliveries a week. They will order for me each time. However, the bank I get my 10+ boxes from is small regional bank. There are only 4 locations in the Dallas area. I have spoken to the branch manager and she is so lovely and doesn't mind what I order. I have even commented "I guess it does matter how much you keep in your account" and she laughed. Lets just say I keep a good sum there. Anyway, I firmly do believe that money talks. Also, when I get halves the bank NEVER sees them again!

By the way, who said I wasn't finding silver? Ken, let me give you a tip. The issue isn't the strip-miners. The issue is, still, that the bank bags take a lot longer to fill up with redemptions than they do with dumps. Thus, in an area that's highly-searched, regardless of the searchers' motivations, there's a higher probability that your boxes are going to be dumps rather than redemptions. A $1000 dump takes about 10 minutes. To fill that same $1000 bank bag with redemption coin may take 10 months, even longer. There may be some redemption coin in that bag when the guy walks in with the dump, and, that's when we get lucky. The point, though, is, the searchers' motivations are irrelevant to the aforementioned issue. And, the banks are starting to get tired of us, regardless of our motivations; that's happening, too, unfortunately.

Russ, my bank orders for me and I don't even have an account. I just use my incredible charm and charisma to have the tellers kissing my feet.

This thread needs to be restricted to posting your HALF DOLLAR FINDS. Post what you found, maybe reply "nice find!" to somebody else's find, and then if you feel the need for mindless chatter and debate of frivilous issues, then start a new thread!
Nah thats too restrictive, as long as it is half dollar related and civil I think thats okay

I agree. For this thing to be 460 pages and just now requiring a heavy hand says something about the majority of those posting here. Russ, that message you received is being dealt with. What he sent you was beyond wrong. In the future, everyone, please use the 'Send note to staff' link if you receive a harassing or threatening e-mail from a member!

Not exactly a great find, but when I was moving my furniture I came across a long lost half dollar under the couch!

Picked up 8 rolls from my bank yesterday, have never found anything from rolls at this bank; always thought I was buying someone elses dumps, but this bank doesn't want halves (they have informed me not to bring any back if I get them there).
anyway; here is the take on the 160 coins:
3 rolls BU 1964-P Kennedy's 3 circulated 64-P Kennedy's 33 Franklins from 1957-62 5 40% Kennedy's
That's a pretty good day in my book! total of 98 - 90% and 5 - 40% for 103 finds out of 160 coins! remaninder were common date Kennedy's mostly in the 70's.
LUCKY DAY for me!
