I went to three more coin counters. Two said the manager was out, and he had the key. However, the third was in, and sold me the bag. When I opened it, I was floored: four Walkers! $59 in bag Walkers: 1935 1937D 1942 1945 Franklin: 1963 Kennedy: 1964x2 40% 1965 1967 1969x2  Edited by CPC24

Thanks Owassokie, and Monks,  although it wasn't my first silver find, I found a 66 and a 68d in the teller's tray once, and I also found a 1945p war nickle, but still, I was really excited to go through my first box of half dollars |

Awesome finds! Most of the time at TD bank they won't let anyone touch the bag.
Other banks probably would though.

Agibby5, I'm not doing anything special. I never even bought bags until this week! Only a couple banks here even have counters, and they won't sell the bags. Tellers have been skunking me, so I tried supermarkets. I just happened to find one that doesn't use Coinstar. I think only Coinstar can open their own machines, and besides, they usually reject silver. It's pretty funny, actually. The manager of the first store I went to actually told me there was silver in the bag. He even grabbed a 90%, and said, "There's a lot of silver in here."  Edited by CPC24

Owassokie, When selling on E-Bay, you may wish to look at the fee structure involved. Sometimes, selling coins in lots pays off when the total amount is high enough. I just sold most of my halves and it was a better to sell it as a Buy-It-Now than an open bidding structure. You will just need to look at the structures and do the math. As for multiple coins of the same error, I am not sure how that would play out. As you know, most listings are for single coins. I bet if set the price a bit below top dollar value, used a Buy-It-Now, and had the amount over $100 it might be more profitable than using an open bid format. Also, in regards to Craigslist, there should be no costs involved there. It should be pretty cash and carry.javascript:insertsmilie('  ') |

Kenscott, Thanks for the reply. I'm familiar with differences of fee structure and how it can save to do things one way versus the other. My question was more geared towards whether or not there would be interest from buyers for multiple 74d DDO coins. Btw, a good resource for finding the best fee structure can be found here: http://www.rolbe.com/ebay.htm Its an ebay calculator that tells you how to best structure a sell on ebay. btw, I don't want to take credit for this website. I saw it on a post (probably here) but I don't remember who deserves credit for finding this site. OO |

Okay, so I just got $50 of halves from my bank and opened them up, and it appears almost all of them are clad proofs! Haven't taken inventory yet, but all of them appear to be fresh out of a set/collection. No circulation wear at all.
I'll post what exactly I have and take a few pictures in a few hours. Right now I have to head to the coin shop and pick up some half dollar sized airtites, tubes, and 2x2s!

some how I ended up getting a 1990 nickel in the middle of my roll! and no silver so I actually lost 45cents!

Did 4 boxes and found 2 really nice 1987p with
nice bright edges.
I've have not been able to ever get good scans of bright coins

Got my two boxes this week and they are the same, old design that tend to produce little to no silver.
I sure wish the newer designed boxes would show once again so some silver could flow.
I have already weighed all rolls, opened all 259.0-260.0 rolls, and found NO silver. Oh well, lets hope for some 40% halves in the 259.7-259.8 range and hopefully some proofs and error coins(though previous boxes haven't been that great).

BTW, I purchased my first serious pair of 1.5x reading glasses last week. After my first few rolls, it occurred to me I might want them on to look at my coins seeing how I use the glasses for reading anyway. Needless to say, it is making it much easier and I am glad I thought of it. Oh well, at 45 you do what you have to. |

1968tons of BU coins from 80's and 90's, mostly hole-filler/replacements, but 12 boxes in a row and only 10 40%ers is not cool. The next few weeks I will be experimenting with a 1-time order of $12000. search and dump over 3 week period. Same amount I usually do a week, just trying to get to secondary vault again, or at least get a good slice of a pallet. The high volume of marked coins has flooded the depots and will take some time to get back to normal again. this happened back in February at another bank and eventually worked itself out. good luck to all. |

BISH... how about $15,000 and NO silver? That's not cool. Or how about $5,000 in dimes and no silver? I've given up on silver... only pennies now :(
