Anyone slowing down their searching now that silver has dropped in value by 1/3rd?
When I talk with coin dealers, my small sample size indicates silver is hard to come by, and they could sell much more if they could just get their hands on more.
That makes me think it will eventually start heading back up again.

Death in the family will cut my coin hunting off for this week. Also, trying to get things lined up for going back to school this fall.
One teller I know said she had $23 worth of halves in her drawer but the person who turned them in told her he had already checked them for silver. Normally, I probably would have grabbed them anyway but I was in a hurry today and she was not in a good mood to begin with.

No silver today, twelve rolls. I did pull a 2004-P and a 2006-D. The big deal of the day was pulling a heavily tarnished 1986-S Statue of Liberty Commemorative.

I found this Magician's coin in my last box. I didnt even notice it at first. Infact, I put it through the coin counter twice before I noticed. Interestingly, it is made from a bicentennial obverse and a regular reverse. The teller was totally amazed.

Quote: I looked up the Andonstar on E-Bay and they tend to sell in the low %60 range.
Can I ask what kind of magnification you get on yours? In addition to coins, I would like to be able to see small marker's marks on rings and the like.
I can see where it would be much easier than using the current jewelers loupes I use. I don't know the actual magnification Kenscott, but if you look at my post, you'll see it works really well. I'm happy with it!

I have gone to my bank and talked to a couple of different tellers and they said they can't order half's. It is Chase BTW.

In regards to silver and gold values falling, if nothing else it may lead so fewer people searching halves.
This is fine by me seeing it can only help increase the odds of me finding more silver.
By the way, please do not think the decreasing price of silver and gold have anything to do with actual supply and demand - they really do not in many ways. It is more so manipulation by the Federal government and large institutions like JP Morgan who tend to control futures contracts. There is a lot to it, but please do not be naive and think the current price of silver and gold is a "honest" market price.
Happy hunting everyone. I hope to do a few boxes next Wednesday or Thursday if all goes well. Too much going on this week.
