I found this 1917-D wheatie in a local pawn shop today for $1.50. There is evidence of corrosion near the center of the reverse and it's surely been cleaned at some point but for a buck and a half I took the gamble. I am quite impressed with the quality of the strike on both surfaces and believe it makes VF20. Grades and comments welcome.

There is evidence of corrosion near the center of the reverse: could that be a minor LAM? It does look like it has been clean but the strike looks above average. John1

I'm feeling a VF-25 solid on this one. VERY nice Denver mint coin. They get to be difficult once you find them in VF+ conditions. Old cleaning I agree.

VF, I think it has a wood grain pattern, mainly seen on the reverse. Also appears to be cleaned years ago.

This coin was a XF and then someone cleaned it up. Now it's more like a VF30. But for $1.50 why not

Gold, cleaning doesn't really affect the grade it just gives it details.
