Price Guide Disparities - Coin Community Forum

tights24 Pillar of the Community United States 2254 Posts	Posted 12/16/2007 08:08 am From what I have seen, PCGS.com pricing lists the highest that was ever paid for a certain coin and grade, so it is very misleading and typically very high. If I ever want to look at true market value of something, I usually don't even look at the dealer sheets. I use: 1. Completed ebay Auctions in and around the coin and grade 2. Teletrade prices realized 3. Heritage Auction prices realized 4. Sometimes I check out Harlan Berk to see what he lists for. Bottom line, PCGS, Numismedia, the RedBook, are all "guides" only. For some series, you will have to pay many times what the "guides" say to obtain a nice coin, while for some other series the guides are horribly overpriced. Report this Post to the Staff
