After the 1964-D 10c "Hotlips" was written up early this year(found by Mark Joyner, listed as DDO-OO1, and DDO-OO2), I scoured my 2 10c albums, and found 2 possible similar Double Die coins, 1 from 1953-S, the other from 1955-S. I sent them to Ken Potter, and he gave them a go, and, wrote 2 articles in Numismatic News announcing the finds

It was suggested by Joyner to send them to Wexler, and, he gave them a GO also:

Off to Anacs for "Discovery(or, "First Found") labels..fun stuff, this variety hunting.
So..check ALL your Roosies..you never know what you might find!
Happy Hunting.

Cool I remember reading those articles in Numismatic News. Congrats on those finds.

These are really good examples of the sometimes-subtle difference between MD and true doubling.

AND clashes SsuperDdave...there is 1 school of thought ALL of these are clashed coins, albeit, that "School" is 1 numismitist. I thought clashed at first, and, sometimes, it's not uncommon to have a specimen with BOTH issues, complicating the final attribution.

Get that 1 numismatist to explain how a counterclash that hard appears in only one place on the coin, with no sign of the original clash and no sign of the heavy polishing it would have taken to remove a clash strong enough to counter like that. It could only be a counterclash, of course. Heck, I'd settle for another example of a counterclash that hard at all. Imagine how brutal the initial clash would have been.

After coop's Jefferson the other day, I'm not prepared to say "never" though. Those dies could probably have counterclashed this hard.
