My half dollar collection is going very well. So far I have 1968 to 2012 including 1978's square and round jewels and the 1999P test token.

Looks like you have a few of the BU ones in there as well as MS. For completeness when they have a different mint mark?

Most are from sets and some are from rolls. I get all the mint marks as well, P, W, WP, RCM logo, etc.... I really like the 2002 Jubilee coin!

There's a 2002-P regular design and the 2002-P Jubilee design. The only Specimen coins are probably 1996 and 1997 since those came in the uncirculated sets those years.

Very nice! If you go back further, the Cdn 50c especially in the '40s has lots of extremely interesting variations and errors. It's my #1 all around favourite denomination as well!

I've always been drawn to the 50 cent series. There are definitely a lot of variations to Canadian coins in general. The Royal Canadian Mint in my observation does a lot of tweaking of its coins. Instead of waiting until the next year to make changes they just go ahead and make them on the spot and that creates a LOT of varieties. Sometimes it can be overwhelming just trying to keep up!

Yes, I know exactly what you mean! At one point in time I had decided to end my loose coin collection and only collect Proof Sets. After that I actually became disinterested - I realized it was because it was both cumbersome and boring to look at all those sets in leather cases. So then I decided to set aside my Proof sets, put my older collection in albums and catch up the missing years. That took some work with all the varieties, Ps, Ws, logos, no logos, crowns, no crowns, and various combinations thereof oneard from 2000. I had no idea things had become so complicated!
But I think it's fantastic that Americans are interested in collecting our Canadian coinage! One regret I have is that, other than the recent Loonies and Twoonies, we don't refer to our coins by "names" such as your Wheaties, Lincolns, Standing Liberty and so forth. I'd even venture to guess that not many Canadians realize it's our Coat of Arms that the 50c is designed with.
