First pic shows two different textures in the fields, second and third shows chip or PMD. It is raised. Opinions please?

Both probably just circulated differently. Hilariously placed die gouge/chip.

Quote: just circulated differently What do you mean? How can there be two textures?

Or maybe one was more recently polished than the other?

Yes not the prettiest coin. Look at the fields. How can that be?

CoinMasters, I've seen this too on the 2006/2007 nickels. I was wondering what it was earlier today. That chip is pretty hilarious too : P

John1 is correct there are two areas in the field that had a thin layer of "grease" on them (probably with differing amount of dirt/grit in them. Thus slightly different textures.)

Being struck through a thin layer of grease is really common for this year and other dates in about that time period. So common that I got upset when I purchased a box of 2007 (or a date close to that year) and couldn't find a normal coin.

Thanks everyone for the input. Now I know how this happened and I'm thinking it's a chip too. I will keep this one.
