Here is a 1974 Nickel dollar that I shot for John Kosakowski at the Michigan State Numismatic Society Convention 11/25/12. I've been looking at this one for some time not being able to decide if it is worth listing as a variety or not. I think some of the traces of "whatever" are from a hubbing mishap but that may be a stretch. Nonetheless, the concentric lathe lines that are on all the 1974 Ni dollars is an interesting look.

Boy, that is pretty subtle... Here is one with tooling marks (or finger feeder marks?), I wrote about this in my CN Journal column a couple of months ago... This example has been found by a few collectors now... Send me a message and I can email you a copy of the article.

SPP-Ottawa,
I'll see if I can find that issue. I had been ill for so long that many issues of numismatic publications got past me without reading them. Even after I got well, I was so busy playing catch-up that I still did not read many. Now, I'm finding club journals, etc., still in their mailers. Something to read in the evening when I hit the sack.

I don't know what I was thinking. I found an image of this one already processed with the listing number included in the file name. I listed it as VCR#18. I guess I just never found time to upload it to the page.

Maybe consult the 67th edition of the Charlton catalogue and match your numbering sequence with the new ones listed there? Send me a PM, if you need a PDF of the 1974 variety pages...

Roger,
Since this one is not yet listed on my page I can change the number if necessary. However, matching the numbers up will be difficult. I have no images of some, maybe all of those in the book beyond where Charleton started continuing the numbers. Two in the book with my listing numbers (VCR-018 and VCR-019) are for coins of which I never assigned a numbers to the best of my knowledge. I'm lost as to where to go with these unless somewhere along the line I did put numbers on them and forgot. Still, I do not find those images on my hard-drive. However, I can list both of these if I have images of them.

No worries Ken, I can provide you with images and even coins if you want, of the numbers 18 through 20 that Bill Cross and I assigned while you were recovering...
I am working on writing up number 21 for the CN Journal (sort of a variation of #12)... send me a PM with your email. I am happy to share everything...

The Lighting Bolt clash in the book is neat. It reminds me of the reverse clash I listed on a 1975 PL dollar that looked like fire and an Arrowhead behind the Indian. It's been years since I wrote about that one. I don't think clashes were all that much appreciated back then. I'll scan it a bit later but I just found images of a DDR for the 1946 dollar that I overlooked before and should get up. It may be the same DDR others are talking about. Those images are on my scanner. I'll post the 1975 Clash under a new thread.
