I have searched extensively online trying to find any information about this set and cannot find anything! Not even a single one like it!

Can anyone tell me if these sets are scarce/rare or how many were packaged in these boxed sets and sold?

I know the mintage figures for ALL bullion coins struck in 1999 were quite high, reportedly to meet the extraordinary demand caused by the fear of the unknown surrounding Y2K computer scare.

I did however discover one fun fact:

Having completely worn out the regular 1999 $10 Gold Eagle business strike dies, the mint ultimately resorted to producing business strikes with unfinished proof dies that still bore the W mint mark. (Which, by the way, carry a NICE premium!)

Any information on this set and its approximate value would be greatly appreciated!

THANKS!

I'm a nube but I feel safe they don't seem rare I could be wrong. Only reason being is I had two of that same set and two of the 2012 stare spangle banner commemorative set also. I wasn't a fan of them and sold all four.

A stupid trick I use to find info is to use google type in as much info as you have on the thing to be researched, then search it in images. Sounds weird but it makes things easier to find because you can just pick out the picture that matches whatever your looking for, if it is there to be found and then click the link under the photo.

Not that it always works but you could give it a try.

That set is not OGP. They are packaged in the aftermarket. I have not seen the two coin set like you have but I have seen lots of silver eagles packaged like that.

Silver eagles pairs are definitely more common but I've also seen sets of gold eagles. like 1/10oz-1oz sets.

Thanks for the tip R1W3D!
That's brilliant!

I will definitely be utilizing that method on future searches!

Being that I was able to acquired this set from a VERY motivated seller for about $10 UNDER spot at the time, I'm pleased with my purchase either way!

Thanks!!
