got this at the same time as the 1982D I just posted earlier same problem as the 1982D. I know it is a P by the shape but it too is unfinished as well. Heck what are the odds of getting two coins with the same possible error in the same batch of change?

Same as other coin die chip so the M/M was filled . If you picture a die where the mint mark is that little hole that makes the middle of a D or a P is going to be a little rod that sticks out of the die. They break off very easy under the thousands of pounds of pressure any slight jump, bounce, or shimmy and is done .
