Ok, has anyone seen these before? I was like "what is this a Freemason coin" then I read the roman numeral date so it has to be a bicentennial thing. Only identifiers are "sterling & 307" on the rim. It kinda screams franklin mint to me though but dosent FM identify themselves on the rims as well. Your thoughts? Thanks

This token has been posted on the forum a couple of times in the past, I have noticed. What makes you think it is bicentennial?

MDCCLXXVI is 1776 (at the base of the pyramid). I tend to think it's bicentennial related, but just a guess.

The symbols of both sides also match those found on a dollar bill.

Ya, noticed that first off after thinking mason. Forgot to mention. This is a tuffy but it has to be either bicentennial or a dollar bill effigy coin form? And is that 307 a mintage in series number out of X or a manufacturing ID tag? Questions, Questions

Only got one hit with image matching programs, Bing's...brought me right to this thread. TinEye and Google found nothing. A very interesting piece though.

What's found on the dollar bill is the Great Seal of the United States (both sides). That's all that's featured on this medal.

Google image search "Great Seal of the United States Token" or "Great Seal of the United States Coin" and you will find others - but I can't tell you anything about who minted it when or where - it is not masonic - believe me, I would be interested if it was.

Cascade - Just took a peek. Very cool York Rite Knights Templar piece. Up in CA they call the Templar "lodges" Preceptories, down here they are Commanderies.
