I think the OP means that weird stuff from the lettering to the rim. I can say it is not a broken die but I can't tell you what it is sadly.

Ohh the lines? These are die flow lines. They are often on coins struck on planchets that are plated such as nickel plated steel.

Yes, the harder the coin is struck the more prone to showing those lines. For some reason it seems the die flow lines create this effect more on plated coins than others. At least this dark.

It's also possible that if the base metal is rusted or has chemical on it the plating will not hold over time and may flake off. I wish I had a closer picture. Since the plated steel coins I've noticed quality drop overall.
