As far as grade I'll say AG-3 net graded to FR-2 for the damage. So grading this coin I'll list it as: 1827 N-7 R.3 3/2-. Another great resource is the Heritage Auctions archives to search for rare coins like large cents and other early copper coins. http://coins.ha.com/heritage-auctio...hives-122214 For attributing large cents from 1816-1857 I use "Untited States Copper Cents 1816-1857" By Howard Newcomb.
