Ok, was I foolish or wise to invest in this 1962 silver quarter? I've been on a 'Type B' kick, and thought that this was a nice addition to my collection.

Is this a rare or common occurrence?

Thanks!

I don't really know anything on this topic, but this would have thrown a red flag to me as I was reading the auction description:
quote:
we belive this was struck using proof dies

Good luck with it!

What got my attention is that the reverse is not the typical Type B that you would see on a proof quarter, but the regular Type A. It's exactly the opposite of the regular 1956-1964 issue with the proof reverse.

The problem is that this is a normal Type A reverse quarter that is being sold incorrectly. Its a $3.50 cent coin at most.

It is a typical run of the mill UNC coin. No proof die involved at all. Sorry to say but you got ripped.

the good thing about it is that he auctioned it off as struck on proof die that is in the title. send it back and get your money back as a SNAD item you cant loose I wouldn't think anyway

I never thought this coin was struck by a proof die, but rather it looked like regular dies struck a proof planchet. Just the opposite of what he is claiming.

If true, what would be the implications? A possible MS-66+ designation for a circulated quarter? Is that a rare occurrence?

You wouldnt get a proof planchet mixed in with normal ones. They are manufactured and struck in different places.
