Usually ebayers like to make it look a lot, a lot, a lot more proof like with this one lighting trick. I don't know what it is. But is is a lighting trick.

Got it; thanks for the tip folks. Yes it doesn't look like it should. Several peps on the other previous thread about this seller mentions special lighting etc. but looking at the pix again; they're low res. and.... "someone" has had hold of the contrast, color and gamma features on photoshop!

This one will be "close" to PL, and frosty like they get. It's not like the guy doesn't have some meat to work with. Here's one he couldn't quite get what he wanted out of, so he listed it unenhanced: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MORGAN-DOLL...281665808826Look at his other listings. He has no trouble whatsoever demonstrating reflectivity if he wishes.

The device is painted. The first time I saw these was at a coin show maybe like 20 years ago.

Now we're getting it. You can even see where it bled onto the fields at certain places. Note his recent Neutral, and the coin which earned it.

Back in the 70's these were known as "California Prooflikes". I've even seen a couple of Peace dollars done up like this.
