With everyone showing these interesting dollars I thought I'd see if I can find something out about this 1960 dollar. After viewing so many excellent photo's you'll have to excuse me for mine I have a hard time with silver. I've had this coin for years and have searched for others like it as I'm sure they're out there but I haven't been able to find any more. The zero in the date has been re-punched and there's all kinds of tool marks in front of the canoe it looks like someone put grass on that portion of the island. I haven't been able to find anything written on this. Nothing in Zoell's works that I can Find. Has anyone else come across this before or is it a new discovery?
this is in the back of the 66th Charlton from 2012, it is fairly common(found 5 kept 2). the Charlton lists the island grass as one variety and the repunching as a different variety but they belong to the same coin as you have noticed. still a cool piece though as it is the newest repunched number on a Canadian coin that I know of.
Thanks for the direction dollarman. I have the copy you mention and feel a little embarrassed now looking through all of Zoells works when it was right in front of me. Thanks again
