Here are my first ancients; a King Azes II "silver of the Magi" 35BC-5AD

and a Gordian III.

Neither are all that rare or valuable, but I think they are a good start. There's something about holding a 2000 year old coin.

My pictures looked much better before the compression, so I will have to play with my photography.

Next on my list is something from the Celtic/Viking era

Two nice coins. The first being a Drachm of Azes II as you have said. Azes is believed to be the king who sent one of the Magi. Also it is now believed the Azes I and Azes II are the same person.

The Gordian III is really nice. What was it graded? Most ancient coin collectors would rather not have their coins slabbed. We like to handle them.

Here is an Azes II tetradrachm from my collection.

I´m absolutely agree against coins slabbed...
Your Gordian III is a nice denarius, struck more and more rarely since this emperor...
It´s a very good start

I'd rather have it loose as well, but I think I got a fair deal for it online, so I can't complain.

I figure I could always open it up if I really wanted it out, and since I didn't pay for the grading, oh well.

It was graded CH XF

I'm trying to get a Gordian III right now myself. You have yourself a cool coin there.
