Not the best pics, but a beautiful example, looks like MS65 RD to me.

MS62-63, the cheekbone, neck and jaw does not look as pronounced as it does on many other 1909 cents. 1909 has some excellent dies that show great detail on the neck and face. As to the trick to this question, the cellophane has me wondering if it could be a matte proof (even though they were wrapped in tissue paper)? Maybe the pictures are not doing the coin justice and showing all the detail that is really there? The rims look square but not matte proof square. Hummmmm...... That can not be it.....must be something else....the 19 on the date looks a little thick, maybe a 2-O-VI?

Does this look like a $262.77 cent?

I bet they were bidding it as a matte, he had a few others up a few weeks ago that were insinuated to be matte proofs. I forgot what the FDC stood for, but it has nothing to do with being a matte proof. They were talking about his auctions on Chucks board. I am watching a couple of his auctions, check out his 09-S VDB, $4,444 right now

edit to add: I went back to Chucks board and someone said FDC means uncirculated on other countries?

It's worth it if you can get PCGS to slab it at 66RD or better. Other than that, it's an iffy prospect.

Ahhh...that's a roll of the dice crap shot those bidders are taking. The fields look bumpy like a matte, but the photo sucks so bad it's hard to say. This is HARSH for such a bid:

"items sold as is and all sales final as estate settlement does not allow for returns"

Not a chance I'd personally take!

Ya I was thinking about $60...some people may have more money than sense for a no return item. Ya my wife is blown away by the 09-S VDB, it looks odd to me though. I would have called the Cent on this post a MS64ish...seemed to have some odd thing happening on the field above the VDB.
