Hi to all members I am new to coin collecting and this forum. I am trying to find out more about this dime I acquired. Pics attached.

Looks like environmental damage to me.

Tested on a jeweler s metal testing stone and shows copper where another dime same year shows white metal on same test stone

Your coin suffers from environmental damage, most likely a ground find. The weight of your coin is normal, a copper dime would have one or both clad layers missing which would result in a dime that is significantly underweight.

This is most definitely a ground find. I pick up a handful ever year around where I park my Jeep after the snow melts away. You can find these in parking lots, etc., after the thaw. Most in parking lots will show abrasion from being drove over and those found on lawns next to a vehicle will often just be brown. It only takes one winter to do this too them.
You can scrub this off with an abrasive.

Now with that said, my 1983-P "Copper" nickel that I use for an Avatar is made of copper. It is struck on a pre-zinc planchet. One of only five or six known for Philadelphia. About five or six known for Denver too.
