First of all, does anyone think this is a legitimate coin or a known counterfeit?. I don't have the weight of this coin. I don't have Mike's marker reference either.
I apologize in advance if this should have been posted in another forum.
I'm no expert. I've heard that unless seen under a loope, a lot of the 1921's out there are very convincing fakes. This one looks fine though. The coin looks cleaned, quite obvious from the filed marks and lack of luster. ICCS would probably net at VF-30. I would say EF Details from a US TPG. This coin has been cleaned, not sure how harshly, as the pictures aren't taken to show the surfaces that well and I can't really gauge the depth of the marks in the fields. However, I think that if it is infact, a harsh cleaning, the detail has been smoothed out. The obverse crown does seem to be a VF easily while the leaves are "worn" enough to be an F. I think it is a VF-30 w/ cleaning that has somewhat softened the details.
This is not a graded coin PC (as far as I know) nor do I have it in hand. Not overly concerned with the grade at the moment, although I think this would squeeze a VF from ICCS.
