Hi guys
I picked up this coin a few years ago
I'm not sure if its real or counterfeit
it's a 1921 Canadian 5 cents silver.
only problem is the 5 cents silver are supposed to way 1.7 grams and this one ways 1.9 grams
is it possible there could be that much weight difference
thanks ahead
nelson

Yes, very obvious counterfeit, the date gives it away, but an experienced collector should get the "feel" that something if off about the coin just by glancing at it.

Because I got that feeling. You should counter stamp "Copy" on it just to make things better. Things like that sometimes don't get made to rip people off lots of money but are just made to be owned by someone who like most of us will never own the real one.

I believe counterfeits are illegal to own, stamped or not.

you may believe there wrong to own stamped or not, but I find it interesting. and a piece of art. there are so many fakes out there you would have to eradicate half the coins out there. LOL
rest assured it would never be bartered. if you look back at our Canadian history a lot of our 1800 coins are counterfeits. do Tiffins ring a bell
