Preface: I am not a coin collector, so please bear with me if my terminology is off. I'm not sure if this is the right place to look for answers, but this is sort of a last-ditch attempt

A few days ago my father found (what I can only assume is) a collector's coin and brought it home to see if he could figure out what it was. After a bit of googling, I came across this site:

https://firstcoincompany.com/S/niue...-finish-2014

It has all the right engravings and looks practically identical, except the nano chip is missing (you can still see the adhesive) and it was found by itself without the fancy display case. It has a few tiny superficial scratches at the top but nothing that's deep enough to feel by touch. And it's definitely real silver and not a mock-up after testing it.

I guess what my question is:

Without the text chip, the certification and display case, what would this be worth, if anything? I'm also hoping to see if there's ANY way to find the rightful owner to get it back to them.

I'd be surprised if, in the condition you describe, it's worth much more than its scrap value at today's price of silver. $40 American, perhaps. That's typical for these made-for-collectors novelty pieces.

That's what I was figuring, but I wanted to check anyway just in case. Thank you :)

If you have reason to assume it is stolen, then all I can suggest is contacting your local police station. Such objects have extremely low mintage, so are very distinctive objects in a missing items report.Unfortunately, if the coin has become damaged as you describe, then the original owner probably will not want the item back in its present state.
