The 99 looks like it might have been someone's pocket piece for a time?

That is glue. THe 71 is damaged, and the 97 has a counterstamp. I would keep that one.

How can I remove the glue without damaging it? Did you looked at the one with glue right by the tail you can see a big chunk of metal missing. I am not really sure what it is but its not environment damage because if you take a look at it the star is above it. The 71 looks like the material was not mixed properly. That is just my opinion. Thanks

YOu can see the scratches on the 71 which means someone probably sandpapered it. Just use a toothpick or something to peel the glue. THen if you see missing metal post more pics.

They're all just common half dollars with no silvrr. The counterstamped is worth holding onto though

Based on the counterstamp I'd say you're either in the Greats Lakes region or AZ/UT border area. I've seen those around here and relocated some to AZ.

Jack Jeckel, I am in MO., I bought $500.00 worth of half dollar coins and found this coin along with a bunch of 1977p,1995p through 2008p. I assumed someone just cash them out. By the way are there worth keeping? Thank you

Lety just an interesting thought ..why don't you put it in the freezer hopefully the glue will come off. I know it works on other things. No harm to the coin and you have nothing to loose. Maybe we will learn a new trick.

An acetone soak will remove the glue wonderfully. Just search the forums and you will find many threads on the subject. BUT, unless you want to use this piece as a learning experience, it is a waste of time. It is only worth 50 cents. As the others said, I would keep the counter stamped coin simply because I find those interesting.

Thank you all for the great ideas. I placed the coin in hot water for a few minutes and the glue pealed off with no problem!!
