On Saturday I am heading down to the states and one of our stops is the coin store. The last time I was there I did not have any money and put 2 coins aside that I wanted the both of, an 1861 IHC in VF-20 and a 1933 "D" Wheat cent in MS-64 both being priced at $50. I also put a third thing aside, an antique perfume bottle I liked and can not go without so now I only have enough money for one coin which leads me to the title of this thread: "Which coin would you buy if you were me"? Every coin collector has a time in his or her life like this but this one right here is a stumper! 1861 IHC VF-20? or 1933 "D" Wheat cent MS-64? Please and thank you

Flip a coin. Heads, indian, tails wheat. And if you are flipping the coin you might realize what side you want it to land on. If you do, I would suggest buying the one you want. ;)

I would take the IHC, but that is only because I like that set better than Wheaties!

I like the 1861. Hard to find a nice CuNi 1861.

Coin flip is always good. I find out really fast what one I truly want.

I would take the 1861 because I don't have one in any grade. I do have a few 1933-D up to AU-50.

Since I prefer to collect circulated coins, I would choose the IHC based on its circulated grade.

I'd go with the IHC. Although I collect Lincoln Cents, MS64 is a tough grade to resell. If you're set on getting one of that year and mint, there is always the option of getting one later on (and perhaps in better condition). So, if the IHC has good eye appeal for the price, I'd take that one.

Go for 1861 IHC. To bad you did not post pictures of each. @ CelticKnotI , Quote:I would take the LWC. Interesting. could you explain your logic. Not to put you on the spot but just wondering. Forget this question if you do not want to reply.

Both coins are graded by one of there employees and are also both in little square shaped capsules stapled shut , (you know what I'm talking about). The LWC is red and both the coins are problem free. From the looks of the comments I think I will most likely get the IHC but I'm still debating it. Which ever one I get I will try to upload a pic of it to CCF for the first time. Thanks for the reply's fellow collectors!

Can't say which I would buy if I was you because I'm not you, I'm me and my likes and dislikes are different than yours. I don't have much interest in reecent coins so Lincolns don't interest me that much so I would be more inclined to buy the Indian. I also don't like red copper which is another strike against the Lincoln for me.

I wouldn't hesitate. I'd get the IHC.
