Pretty neat coin Teachmind, Now you're getting it!

Feeder finger error near liberty? Not quite sure if this applies to the parts near the date. And also it goes on the tops of the design, so I'm not quite sure. Check this out:

It is a linear plating bubble issue with the coin. (gas under the plating) If it were a feeder finger issue, it would only affect behind the devices and bust. This can be seen on the bust.

These are Plating Blisters. It can be eliminated as exhibiting feeder mechanism scrapes for the reason given by Coop.

During the early 80's this was common until they changed the rinsing process and that removed a lot of the problem. But it still rears is head now and then:

Coop,
I think that the diminishing numbers of cents with plating blisters may be more attributable to the strip being processed sooner -- or what is referred to as the Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing philosophy that took hold in the 1990s -- and changing the electrolyte more often. The problem is within the plated planchets long before they are rinsed. However, better rinse can help alleviate planchet stains.
