Are you referring to the red spot near Kennedy's neck?

If it's indented, it could be the copper showing through where the cladding fell away, either due to PMD or the lamination coming off.

If it's the same level as the surrounding metal, it could just be stained like the reverse looks.

Acid ate through the nickel clad layer and exposed the copper core.

It does look like acid. To be honest, the coin looks like it had spent some time in someone's workshop.
