"On 7 May 2015, the Federal Mint Swissmint is launching the sale of two new Swiss commemorative coins for collectors and enthusiasts.
The silver coin is dedicated to the Swiss national sport "Hornussen", while the central theme of the gold coin is "2000 years of Aventicum""

Effigy shows the gold bust of Marcus Aurelius found in Aventicum (coin available in polished proof only).

Precision, power and elegance are the key features of a good Hornussen player (coin designed by Roland Hirter; uncirculated and polished proof finishes available).

My humble opinion is that the reverse designs have zero artistic merit. Very unbecoming, in comparison to designs on Swiss coins of earlier times.

I would have to say that I too am not liking the reverses.

And the silver obverse does nothing for me either.

I could live with the gold obverse, Marcus Aurelius,
is a very interesting person.

His eyes do freak me out a little ... like grey alien eyes.

Too simplistic in their designs. I as the others who have commented on the am not impressed or would be inspired to purchase either if I collected such coins. The Swiss are capable of much better. These two might actually be worth consideration for long term investment as I do not see very many collectors buying them. But then, if they do not sell well now would there be much of a secondary market for them over melt value in the future as in supply not meeting demand? Those are the questions one has to ask oneself before buying either of these coins.

Those pieces are collector coins, not "investor" coins. ;) The issues from earlier this year have better designs in my opinion:

10 Fr Alpabzug/Transhumance

20 Fr Solar Impulse

What I do not really like about the Swiss collector pieces is that the side with the country name and value is always the same. Until about ten years ago, both obverse and reverse had issue-specific designs. No more.

That transhumance coin is not bad, but Swiss coinage used to be so good artistically. It seems that the minimalist school has become the only approved artistic movement at the Mint.
