I picked up these yesterday, but I know very little about them? I normally try to use ebay as a barometer in determing value, but there's a wide range on there. They range from anywhere from $174 to $1000. Mine look like the listed below. I hope I'm not stepping on any toes or crossing any barriers with THIS post, thanks for all your help. I also picked up a very nice roll of Morgan's, including a couple of cc's 78 & 82.

You had a lot of guts to buy that. I can't tell from the pictures whether or not the coins are proof (with the exception of the cent and maybe the dime). Here's hoping for the best!

They don't look like a proof set, even though the seller is a high rating it isn't worth the gamble

I'm not even sure what you bought. Yours "look" like the listing below? What about the '41 set?

Anyway, I'd only buy certified individual coins from those years to make up the set, because I don't believe they came in sets, only individual coins, but I could be wrong about that.

Oh. Okay, I didn't read that part of the OP. He means that he bought the proof sets in a capitol holder, and the one linked is not the one he bought. Makes sense now. However, we still can't evaluate your purchace without seeing the coins themselves.
