What are the top ten errors I should look for in Memorial cents? I'm about to go through my my loose cents again, after having separated and scrutinized the Wheats, and would like some benchmarks besides "serendipitous" finds, like a 2009 triple-die. 30,000 coins...what did you do over the holidays? Ummm...errr....ahhhhhmmmmm....not tellin'

Thanks,
Jim

Errors aren't so specific - a lot of errors are probably worth looking for, but you're highly unlikely to find them in change because they wouldn't fit in a roll.

Maybe a deep cap, a mushroom coin, or a quadruple struck out of collar...I can't come up with ten. I only do die varieties anyway.

Die varieties are what I'm asking about. I can only hope I discover one that's not been discovered...otherwise, some guidance about key look-out dates would help. Thanks. Jim

Look at everything and see what turns up. A list of a hypothetical "top 10" would barely touch the surface as there are hundreds of valuable die varieties.

Categories to look for might be doubled dies and Wide AM varieties. But there might be " Close AM" varieties that you can find as well on cents prior to 1993.

I can think of at least one nice doubled die variety on practically every date and mintmark combination from 1959 to 1989. Then there are some in the 1990s right on up through to today.

I would suggest taking your time and looking at everything.

Thanks,
Bill
