Barcelona, Spain is as unlikely a place to buy a collection of US dimes as any place I can think of. There are 47 coins ... and here are a few of them. The 1921, regardless of which issue it is, is worth 3 times what I paid for all of them. Maybe that 16 will be a "D" ... yeah, right. Now to dump a couple rolls of 40s mercs to recoup my expenditure before the wife can scalp me. Chance

It'll be interesting to see if there are mint marks on any of the early ones. It would do my heart good if the 1919 was a San Francisco issue. That's the one and only coin on the first page of my Wayte Raymond album that's not AU/BU. The 21 , if a philly minted one would substantially upgrade that slot in my set ... and if a "D", would marginally improve that slot.
I'll likely never own the 16-D in AU/BU ... but I don't see that as a reason to not assemble the rest of the set to that grade.

Better check yours for the highly unlikely chance one was sitting in Spain for a while (if you have the right year and mm) I understand old world commerce and all but I too get that "what the heck is that doing over there" voice in my head when I sea nice US stuff abroad

I saw a 1916-S DDO on ebay and didn't buy it. That was a couple months ago. This collection was bought from a stamp dealer with nearly 7500 feedbacks... Chance

The 21 appears to be decent condition, when you do receive it please post close up.

I am guessing the 21 to be in the neighborhood of an EF40. The sheet that they're in is a stamp display sheet. There was no image of the reverse sides. The coins would have had to have been removed, flipped over, and photographed again. Hopefully there's no bad surprises on the reverses.
The 1917, 1919, 1920 and 1924 look real nice. The 1921 is a tad better than my best.
Also ... that's a digital scan ... not a digital photo, so they'll probably look more "natural" and reflective than they appear in the scan.
I'll post better pics when they arrive. Postage was cheap ... so it'll be a couple weeks I'm betting.

I bought about 75 silver dimes mainly Mercurys, for not much above silver value in a single job lot in Sydney. Commonly available in Australia in dealers' junk boxes of World coins, but in small numbers. I have found 4 or 5 FSB's in this way, including a 1919.

I picked up two nice lots of dimes from a seller in South London a few years ago. I didn't pay an exhorbitant price for them, but there were 2 BU Barbers, a 1913, and a 1903, and several other nice barbers, but not in the league with those 2. I remember there were 81 dimes, and I paid less than 2 dollars each for them. It hasn't been a month since I picked up a nice lot from an Italian vendor on ebay. I paid 62 dollars delivered for 4 coins ... a 1921 Morgan dollar, a 1924 Peace dollar, a 1967 Kennedy half, and a 1933-S walking liberty that was UNC details (great strike and a RPM too), but (unfortunately) lightly polished. I sold the walker for almost 3 times what I paid for the entire lot. The reeded edge was really sharp on that coin. Chance

Please post a pic of the 1921 when you get it. I would love to know how those dimes got into Spain.

I will do that. I checked to see what else they had for sale ... and this set was re-listed. My heart sank ... but I emailed them, and they have 2 stores. Apparently several lots were re-listed by accident.
I asked them to let me know how much to get a little quicker postal service ... Since they're not mailing them until tomorrow, I figured I might as well ask.
I hate to think about waiting 2 weeks for the coins to get here, when for a few bucks more, we can trim the delivery time.

Here's the whole page of dimes. There are a lot of them that are just junk silver ... especially the Roosevelts. I don't make it a habit of collecting any coin with a deceased politician on it. I have a set of Franklin half dollars missing just 5 coins, and a set of Lincoln cents missing only 3. Chance
