Cascade....

I believe Long Beach has a show 2x per year....Spring and Fall. I used to love to go to that show when I lived in San Diego. My late Father was an avid collector and he enjoyed going to the show, too. Conveniently, my Mom and Dad would fly out to California from Texas on the pretense "to see the Grandkids" but the timing of the visit always coincided with the Long Beach shows. Humm.....?

If you wanna hit another good one try the FUN show in Florida in January.

When I was younger I was into Magic: The Gathering. So much so that I was winning big prize money and ranked 63rd in the country at one point. For kicks and extra pocket change I would set up at card shows and buy/sell/trade rare ones as a side business all at age 15. I'm assuming the flood of memories will pour in as I attend my first coin show.

1. Much was devoted to slabbed coins/silver rounds. maybe 70%.
Raw coins are becoming rarer at my local shows. There are still plenty of raw coins, but the slabs are everywhere now.

Yes, lots of slabs. I am fortunate that I live in Central Florida so I have easy access to the two big F.U.N. shows every year. It is amazing to see the inventory and the auctions. But I also like the small shows too. So far as noise goes, I just tune it out.

I like shopping on ebay too, but its also nice to get around other collectors.

I may be old but online seems easier.

BUT no lost in mail, no postage, no handling, no no returns, no insurances, no paypal expenses, no ebay expenses. So many people seam to forget those little things.
IF you can find a lot of coin shows, remember to try to talk to as many dealers as possible. Try to think of ways for them to remember you. This only works at coin shows where the same dealers appear. At those large shows it makes little difference what you say or do since those dealers will probably never see you again. At shows I go to I get to know the dealers and they look for coins I need or want. And I get super good prices due to just being friendly with them.
