What do you guys think, is this real or artificial toning? Please let me know if better pictures are needed

My thought is artificial but I don't know much about coin toning or how to make the distinction.

That is beautiful. I sure hope the nickel guys call it genuine. How does it look in hand, straight on in normal ambient light?

It's dominantly gold (like the last image), hints of light green and red on some slanted surfaces. The reason I think it could be fake is near the word "STATES" on the reverse. There is a speck of something on the "T" that it looks like the toning formed around it, and then another spot on the other "T"

Ah, it does look like some of mine that have album toned. That primary yellow with rainbows but none of mine have as much rainbow as yours. The pattern looks good too. Monochrome saturated on one side and ring target on the other. I'm calling this one good... I think

The spot could have been an album fiber that sat on the coin for years while it was toning

Sweet! Do you have any toned nickels? I'd like to see some to this compare to.

How do you recommend I store it, would a 2x2 be alright for now?

I'll dig out some pics but wait for others to chime in. I'm far from an expert on toned nickels so I could be wrong

Here's one of my best. You may have seen it before. Mostly varying degrees from a honey to richly deep yellow and both sides have a nice red hue in the centers which I don't think shows as well as in hand.

And another I had on hand...

That is a nicely toned nickel. The way it turns in the light makes me think it might be real. Hard for ,me to tell though.

This one is mine.
