I am new to this, but I found this lady (the 1810 classic cent) at the bottom of my dad's box. Would you recommend cleaning her and with what? She's in sad shape but can still make her out and the word 'Liberty'. The back is in more of a readable shape.

DO NOT clean coins with anything, even a paper towel/cloth, unless you know what it is and what you are doing.

SA4H is right. In 99% of all cases attempting to clean a coin does far more damage than good.

If it just has dirt on it, there are some safe ways to get that off, but if it looks tarnished, corroded, etc. it is better left alone. Can you post some pics? We might be able to provide more detailed suggestions then.
