1859 Worthy Of Notation? - Coin Community Forum

Hounddog Bill Pillar of the Community Canada 1222 Posts	Posted 05/12/2015 11:59 am This is a 1859 that was introduced to me a few years ago, I believe it was Dan in crystal lake and it was before Dr Haxby's site was established. There's something going on with the stem to leaf #12 on this reverse. I'd searched for quite some time for this coin but I never new any other markers to ID it so it's taken a while. I've finally found one and thought I'd share the Haxby number for it as this feature is not covered on Vickycent. Maybe I can convince Dr. Haxby to include it on his site. I realize there are other distinctive markers for this reverse with the re-punched "O" being conclusive enough for proper ID but I think this is quite distinctive and cool also. The Haxby Number is PC59-402 Obv 40 with Rev I2 Do you think this should be included on the site? Cheers, SIC Report this Post to the Staff

okiecoiner Pillar of the Community Canada 5588 Posts	Posted 05/12/2015 12:15 pm The stem at 12 was recut so it appears to be a double stem. There is a somewhat scarcer variety that has this stem like that, but I don't see the other markers for it. Report this Post to the Staff
