I'm super excited about this one! I probably paid too much ($618) but I don't care.

It looks like it might be SB 344, but unless it has been certified I'd be a little doubtful about it. If it's real you did over pay a bit.

Dang! You and Caesar77 are getting all the cool stuff! Justin II , well.... started out as a decent Emperor but after the Persian sack of Antioch he went off his rocker. He is reported to have eaten two of his servants and could only be calmed down by loud music. We don't really know what was wrong with him, he was apparently still able to appoint a competent man to be Caesar(Jr Emperor). So that rules out most mental diseases. Here is my only Solidus of the guy that had to clean up Justin mess on the Eastern boarder with Persia. Maurice Tiberius AV Solidus 4.12g light weight 22 Siliqua standard. Struck 582-602CE Welcome to the Solidii club!

I have seen these on Vcoins go from $500 to $700 so If you did pay over, it wasn't too bad. Just enjoy that Solidus!!

Looks great on the screen, but I agree with Topcat7. Is the numismatic competancy of estate auction business that sold it OK? Almost certain that it is good gold. Price otherwise OK.

Nice, coin well centered. I think for an estate sale it was priced high. I paid 575 for mine on CNG, so I would expect a discount buying it at an estate sale.

Yeah, that's why I bid so high. It's so well centered! I'm a sucker sometimes lol.

The worse thing to happen in Coin Auctions, is the imbecile. I bet some ignoramus' were bidding it up thinking it was worth thousands of dollars. They always ruin it for collectors. We enjoy the coins for the history, or perhaps the emperor has special meaning or we are a fan of them. However, then these people blow in and think every ancient coin is worth a fortune and they pay outrageous sums. Had they not been there you would have probably gotten a steal. I hope I can find a sucker like that to pay five figures or more for my Hadrian!

I live near Seattle, and I never see many nice coins for sale, except at the PNNA show every year in Tukwila. Then again, I don't really go to any auctions.
