A few coins from the Landon Collection are starting to show up in PCGS holders:

So it appears that for all that extra money to get them into PCGS holders they get ..........ta da !,........the same grade. what a surprise.
the 1901 25 cents is definitely LOT 946 from the Landon Sale where it sold for $6750 CAD before BP. The 1910 Large Cent is most likely a coin from bulk lot 726 lot of 22 1910 Large Cents.

I wouldn't move them from ICCS holders to PCGS holders. Same coin.

I disagree CV, I am sure we will hear about monster upgrades and the inevitable they killed me on a down grade. I think that those of us who were there and purchased a lot of this Landon stuff know what a neat coin looks like irregardless of the slab or holder.
I can see the reasoning behind reholdering though, it is for the registry sets that are being assembled. also we have to remember that
Some of the most interesting coins and tokens from the Landon Sale was purchased in bulk lots and submitted to ICCS and other services afterwards. For example I purchased the only lot of 1903 Large cents that were in the sale and was pleasantly surprised by the results. I am the proud owner of the only MS65 Red that was in there.
I am going to bet. There will be many more coins in PCGS holders that came from the sale. as a previous post mentioned still the same coins.

Registry Sets : a great money maker for PCGS from those collectors that adhere to it. The game of breaking slabs to gain a grade continue.

I'm not sure that it's only about the registry or grade gain. I think coins of this caliber are better served by a PCGS (or NGC) golder and the wider market appeal that comes along with it. Especially within the US where disposable and/or investment dollars are of greater numbers than here. More accurate grading of Canadian coins by US TPGs along with grade creep from ICCS will bring grades completely in line between them within a couple of years. One of the reasons why collectors are actively seeking out old ICCS holders.

Very understandable that these coins are making their way into
PCGS holders. High end Canadian coins have been doing this for
quite some time. There are more than a few serious collectors
of this type of material that prefer their coins to be PCGS
encapsuled.
The cost of having these coins graded by PCGS does not come
into play. Red copper in PCGS 65 is very desirable and the
Victorian 1901 25c PCGS 66 (Landon ICCS 66 Pedigree) speaks
for itself.

Im sure we will start seeing more Landies end up in PCGS holders and marketed to the USA collectors, just makes sense if your objective is to make a buck.

ICCS to PCGS crossover at the same grade is a profitable cross for mint state coins IMO

On a related Q: are the Landon gems safe to store in the flimsy ICCS holders over the long term? Is it better to hard slab these coins to better preserve them, via PCGS/NGC/etc.?

Skip79 the hard slabs used by NGC, PCGS and ANACS are NOT air tight so it is possible that red cents will tone if not stored properly.

PCGS has a claim that their new holders are air tight (and waterproof, in case you need to bathe with them).

I suspect a good number of the PCGS MS-66 large cents in the upcoming TCNC (Torex) auction are former Landon coins... those kind of grades just don't pop out of the woodwork at once...

What a surprise that's who bought most of the lots. You are right that stuff just doesn't pop out of the woodwork.
As far as copper turning. It can and will over time no matter how careful one is. That is why I just love lustrous brown high grade pieces. They are cool to look at and no red left to worry about.

I love them as well. I've been looking at some recently but not sure what I want just yet.

Would they have them labelled as Landon coins or is it an option to just remove that title?
