Coin has been whizzed with a dremel. It appears to be the Large Date, but, the 3 in the date appears to be to high (it almost touches the trunk of the bust) Whizzing is a common way to obscure the tell-tale signs of scratches/tooling etc. Authentication of this coin would have to be done in person because of these issues.

This is a scary statement in the current listing...

"This coin has never been sent in to be graded due to the high cost."

Personally I just sent in an 1802 Draped Bust Silver Dollar to PCGS and it graded
VF Details, at the "high" cost of $69.95 (plus shipping to get it to PCGS)

That aside my rules on ebay are:
1. Buy the seller first (returns accepted? feedback, location, other items listed and sold.)
2. Then buy the pictures, and not the slab.
3. If any of these are questionable, then I will ask the seller for more information/pictures.

If these rules fail, then my business goes elsewhere.

As to this coin specifically, it "appears authentic" based on my limited knowledge, the 2 pictures provided, and text in the description with weights and measurements. But pictures of the lettered edge would be nice since it is not in third party plastic.

Right.... so now you can "choose your price"

price a:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-180...em5b12324940

price b:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-180...em5b122e5921

I pick a since it's $250 cheaper. So the seller has figured out the rotated die part, but may have to add yet a 3rd listing! Mainly to point out the 3/3. Hope no one points that out to him!

Um, there's no coin certified under the number "6901" on pc gs. I'd call it fake, though a really good one

1. Who in their right mind would sell such a valuable coin without a proper TPG?
2. Who in their right mind would buy such a valuable coin without a proper TPG?
