AU55. Die crack between star 7 and 9. Looks like a clash above States. Crosshatch hairlines on reverse could have been from a cleaning

MS-62 obverse, AU-55 Reverse. So does that make it a AU-58 overall?

Looks like two die cracks, one on the obverse between star 7 and 9 as panzaldi pointed out. Not sure about a clash on the reverse, but it looks like another nice die crack at the top running through AT in STATES.
It's tough for me to grade from these photos, they're just no quite clear enough. From what I see though, it's tough to have that much mint luster on an AU coin. My gut tells me MS 62. The hairlines hold it back and as stated above, could be signs of an old cleaning.
I think better photos are needed to give more definitive information.
Overall, good looking 'no cents' nickel and a nice pickup if it was snagged at AU bid pricing or better.

Wizzy, as a general rule, if one side is MS then by definition both sides must be MS. I'm not hip to this series though so no grade guess here but it does look like a mint state coin to my untrained to the series eye

would you say the die crack on the reverse at the A and T of States has the characteristics of a Retained Cud? My first thought to a grade is AU58.

Here are some updated photos. If it has been cleaned would it hurt the grade. The hairlines may be from a wipe, but I don't think they are damaging. Also, I kind of think maybe it was in a dansco album sideways, and it got the hairlines from the album slides. Just a thought, I have heard they can do that. MeidowView, I do not think it counts as a Retained Cud. The crack does not go into the denticles, and I think it would have to, for it to be a Retained Cud. As for cracks there's one running from the 2nd-4th star and 7th-9th on the obverse. The reverse has the large crack through states. I don't see any clashing.

First thought was MS, but hairlines made me doubt it.
But overall, MS60.

If those lines are raised, they are die polishing lines if not, they are probably from a cleaning. MS-62 if not cleaned. Weak strike on some stars and the left corn cob is not struck up. Not a bad specimen.
