Not an error, just normal wear and tear on a die.

I see a die chip connected to a die crack connecting the C and A ... a "Die Connect" as they used to call them in the old days.

Found another ... I've searched millions of coins and this is the only year I found pennies with the ca connected like this. Was moving stuff and decided to open another 1973 roll and this one popped out at me. I had forgotten I even had these pennies till I found another one.

The flattening on the ear looks like the coin was struck with something. If you look on that opposite area of the coin, that area should be dimpled outwards opposite that area. If so it is PSD.

Coop, this is the 9th one I've found with the "CA" in America connected. Only have found these in 1973 pennies though. Never have seen any other dated pennies with the ca connected. Very interesting to me

A die crack with a die chip as previously mentioned. If the die wasn't retired after your coins were made the crack and chip would have gotten larger.
These generlly show up on older dies, but not always. I've noticed that some years have multiple dies that are affected with similar die failure in the same areas. '83's have lots of cracking on the building corners, 1940 S tend to have lots of die cracks (precuds) around the wheat ears, etc.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups. We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

I'm gonna keep hoarding all these I find lol. I love em! If it were just one, probably wouldn't think anything of it... but nine now exactly with the same error? That's a pretty neat collection. Had some strike throughs I found once that looked like they followed in series until whatever was removed. Those are pretty cool too. Found in rolls from someone who just has them stashed away.

If you are looking in OBW rolls, you will find examples of the same dies in these rolls. I've found as many different 19 same die issues in a roll. And on other rolls, I've found as many as 33 different die pairs in a roll. It depends on where they ended up in the container.
