The SCWC CDs appear to limit one from OCRing the document. I buy every other edition of each of these. I keep my coin collection inventory in a Microsoft Access file. My brother is an IT pro and would like to write me a program to update the current prices in my Access file from SCWC. He says if he could copy the SCWC out of PDF by OCR, he could construct a program to do it.

Has anyone been able to automatically update their collection automatically from the SCWCs?

Thanks.

Paper catalogs are meant to be read my humans, not by machines.
It would be difficult and take a lot of time.
And then the next year's catalog might change and you would have to start all over again.

Using this would be easier:
World Coin Price Guide and Values | NGC
www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/
The NGC World Coin Price Guide is a complete catalog of values for World coins from 1600 to date, created by NGC and NumisMaster price guide pages.

I have been buying the SCWC catalogs on CD as long as they have been published. Using NGC or Numismaster is not a solution.

To make it clear, I want a way to automatically update my Access file from the SCWCs. My brother said if he could OCR the SCWCs with Adobe Professional, he could put them into a format like Excel and then he would write a program that would update the Access file automatically from the OCRed SCWC editions. He is a programming pro and says that the automation would be easy as long as he could convert the SCWCs. Adobe Professional has the ability to do the OCR but the SCWCs have some trigger that prevents this. I did contact Krause asking them to do this or come up with a computerized catalog that would allow automatic update of a coin database.
